Hello everyone,
I am proud to present the 3rd point release in the 20.04 “Focal Fossa” series, 20.04.3!
The way point releases work are simple-for our LTS releases we periodically (about every six months) rebuild our ISO images and packages, to ensure that they have the best stability and are compatible with newer versions of packages. This is also how we can push out or patches and ensure newcomers don’t have to spend a long time updating, but instead can take the latest point in the timeline and install.
That being said, if you are regularly updating your 20.04 system, there is no need to reinstall as you are already at it. If installing or downgrading, you will need to grab this new ISO.
There is no new huge news for our updates and fixes, since 20.04 for Cinnamon is already very stable, so a few notable fixes since 20.04.2 include a Caribou screensaver and general virtual keyboard vulnerability with special characters, and many more complicated patches that I won’t go into to keep this simple and short, but I suggest taking a look at the Ubuntu 20.04.3 release notes too, which will also give you a view of the changes in the Ubuntu core and beyond.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us on Discord, Email, Telegram, and Twitter.
Oh, and our friends in the U.S.: Buy a 20.04 LTS Focal Fossa T-Shirt before they’re gone!
Enjoy!
